Tiny Home Developments Offer Big Potential for Savvy Investors

A tiny home to live in? I don’t think so. But for a short-term stay? Yes, I would consider it, and probably love it, especially if located “away from it all” but with easy access to good food and recreation options. Two recent Green Lodging News articles on developments with tiny homes got a lot of reads and for good reasons. Tiny homes have little environmental impact from a materials and operational standpoint but offer significant profit potential.

In late December, The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort in Richmond, Rhode Island was featured. Its $88 million Cozy Cabin Village includes 60 luxury tiny homes. They range from 400 to 1,200 square feet and include a private outdoor deck for quiet relaxation and connection to the natural surroundings. Located within 3,500 acres of pristine wilderness, the Cozy Cabin Village offers guests a nature-focused retreat with convenient access to the resort’s world-class amenities. Its proximity (less than a five-minute walk) to the property’s new Event Barn, which boasts 10 meeting spaces and seats up to 450 people, makes the village especially attractive for wedding parties, couples seeking a romantic escape, and groups desiring an intimate, community-style setting.

The resort’s recent expansion includes accommodations that sleep four starting at $999 per night and accommodations that sleep six starting at $1,549 per night.

Each home features a full kitchen, living room, and loft. The Grandview Cabin offers panoramic forest views, shiplap walls, a slanted ceiling, hardwood floors, central heating and air conditioning, quartz countertops, luxury appliances, a full bathroom, a combination washer-dryer, and custom furnishings. Each home also includes a private outdoor deck for quiet relaxation and connection to the natural surroundings.

One-of-a-Kind Luxury Lodging

“This expansion reflects both a growing demand and our commitment to offering one-of-a-kind luxury lodging experiences,” said Paul Mihailides, owner of The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort. “Our Tiny Home Village provides guests with all the comforts and elegance they expect from The Preserve, while immersing them in the beauty and tranquility that make our property truly exceptional.”

Hobbit House

Guests can immerse themselves in the landscape while flyfishing, hiking, trying archery, kayaking/canoeing, ziplining, clay shooting, playing golf, horseback riding, and much more. Adults can reserve safari tents and partake in cigar and scotch tastings, culinary activities, or a rejuvenating treatment at Hilltop Spa. After working up an appetite, guests can indulge in a memorable culinary experience at Double Barrel Steak or book one of the three Hobbit House dining experiences.

In addition to the Tiny Home Village, The Preserve offers a diverse portfolio of luxury accommodations, including townhomes, a boutique hotel (Hilltop Lodge & Spa), glamping experiences, and an eight-person Hobbit Home (coming in 2026). ‘Awful Beautiful Life’ Tiny Home Resort

Darryl Worley’s “Awful Beautiful Life” Luxury Tiny Home Resort

This past week I posted an article about the Darryl Worley’s “Awful Beautiful Life” Luxury Tiny Home Resort in Enterprise, Alabama. For those of you not familiar with Darrly Worley, he is a country music singer and songwriter. The resort, scheduled to open in late spring, is located close to Fort Rucker and is expected to attract government contractors, flight graduation class family members and guests and Army Aviation Museum visitors.

“The resort will also be very inviting to the massive migration of retirees that are moving south in record breaking numbers,” Worley says.

The resort will include 75 tiny homes, a resort lagoon pool, dog walking park, and more. Homes are designed for comfort with a bedroom downstairs, kitchen, sitting area and a covered porch with large overhang meaning guests can utilize outdoor living spaces during different weather conditions. Other specific amenities will include an event center, fully equipped fitness center, pickle ball court, cornhole court, a clubhouse and a chill lounge.

Additional details will be available in the coming months.

Available on Amazon

Tiny homes, when paired with solar and other green technologies, are not only highly efficient but also very attractive to eco-travelers. In December, Travel & Leisure reported on Amazon’s introduction of its tiny house. The cost: under $11,000 with solar panels included.

Tiny homes with solar panels are best found on specialized booking platforms like Hipcamp, focusing on off-grid, eco-friendly, or farm-based locations.
