CAMBRIDGE, MASS.—PlanetTran, the all-hybrid car limousine service, rolled out a new mobile text reservation feature, as well as a first-of-its-kind Environmental Impact Calculator. The new mobile feature allows busy travelers to access the reservation system by text-message. Now customers can switch flights or change their travel plans, and still have their PlanetTran car waiting punctually at the gate. Travelers simply send a text message, and receive text confirmation of the changes.
“First and foremost, our customers want to reduce their environmental footprint,” says R. Seth Riney, founder and president of PlanetTran. “We provide a tangible way for businesses and individuals to reduce carbon emissions, without giving up convenience. Our new texting feature has just made PlanetTran even more convenient to use.”
PlanetTran’s new Environmental Impact Calculator allows customers to see first-hand the extent of their eco-contribution by going hybrid. The calculator automatically quantifies the carbon emissions savings of each PlanetTran trip over that of a traditional taxi or limousine service. For increased eco-satisfaction, the calculator also informs customers of the total savings contributed by their entire network of colleagues and friends whom they have referred to PlanetTran.
“Since starting our hybrid car service four years ago, our customers have really wanted to quantify the favorable environmental impact of their transportation choices,” Riney says. “Our environmental calculator now makes it a snap.”
Using a Toyota Prius and Lexus hybrid fleet, PlanetTran offers the San Francisco-San Jose area and Greater Boston travelers alternative transportation that delivers two-and-a-half times the fuel economy of traditional black car sedans. PlanetTran also offers in-car WiFi access, as well as real-time vehicle tracking.
