DANVERS, MASS.—North American lighting maker OSRAM SYLVANIA announced the first to market 100-watt equivalent LED incandescent replacement offering long life and energy savings. The SYLVANIA ULTRA LED omnidirectional A21 bulb consumes only 20 watts of electricity, saving consumers approximately $220 over its life compared to an incandescent bulb.

The A21 100-watt equivalent type is part of the ULTRA LED A-Line series of bulbs, now available in four wattages, offering substitutes for 40, 60, 75 and 100-watt incandescent bulbs. Producing a similar lumen output and distribution pattern to incandescent bulbs, ULTRA LED omnidirectional A-Line bulbs provide up to 80 percent energy savings over traditional incandescent bulbs. With a rated life of up to 25,000 hours, the LED bulbs last up to 25 times longer than traditional incandescent light sources, resulting in further cost savings from less required maintenance.

“Today’s announcement from OSRAM SYLVANIA shows a commitment to providing high quality, energy saving products,” said Phil Rioux, vice president—Lamps, General Lighting, OSRAM SYLVANIA. “We have a deep understanding of the challenges facing businesses and consumers, such as saving energy and reducing electricity bills without sacrificing quality of light. By combining that knowledge with our lighting expertise, we are able to provide solid state lighting solutions like the SYLVANIA ULTRA LED omnidirectional A21 bulb to meet the needs of our customers.”

The SYLVANIA ULTRA High Performance Series omnidirectional LED A-Line bulb features a high color rendering index (CRI) of 80 and a 2700K warm white color temperature that rivals incandescent and halogen light sources. These environmentally preferable bulbs are free of mercury and lead. All four wattages are dimmable to 10 percent.
