More Than 100,000 Entries in Go Green Art Competition

AJMAN, UAE—Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman Ajman Municipality, and in association with UAE Ministry of Education, Ramada Hotel and Suites Ajman announced the winners of the Go Green Art Competition and awarded the prizes in a grand ceremony held in the hotel’s Majestic Ballroom.

The grand prize winners are Obied Abdulrahman of Al Mansoor Primary School in the Grade 2 & 3 Category and Duaa Jayed Akhter of Al Amaal English High School in the Grade 4 & 5 Category. The entries of the two students on the theme “Go Green: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” were selected from amongst the 100,000 entries submitted by students from Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah.

His Excellency Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Ali Al Nuaimi, known as the “Green Sheikh” and official Environmental Advisor to the Ajman Government; Sharifa Moussa, Head of Activity, Ministry of Education; Rui Barros, Managing Director, and Bani Haddad, Regional Vice-President, Middle East and Africa of Wyndham Hotel Group; and Sumair Tariq, Managing Director of R Hotels, Osama Saeed Salman, Vice-President, Ajman University were present during the ceremony.

Additional Winners

Other winners are Obaida Mohammad of National School as 1st runner up, and Ehab Butt of Our Own English High School Fujairah as 2nd runner up in the Grade 2 & 3 Category, while Krish Kalvani of Our Own English High School Boys Branch and Rashed Ali Alhairy of Our Own English High School Fujairah earned second and third place in the Grade 4 & 5 Category. Consolation prizes were also awarded to the top 100 artworks from the participating students.

Iftikhar Hamdani, General Manager, Ramada Hotel and Suites Ajman, said, “We congratulate the winners of our first Green Art competition. The artworks reveal great potentials of these children and serve as testament that their generation has a lot to offer in terms of commitment to environmental protection in the future. We had a very successful turnout and would like to thank Ajman Municipality, Ministry of Education, the teachers and students of the participating schools and our sponsors for their support in this initiative.”

The winning entries were judged based on creativity, originality and relevance to the theme. The students used crayon and water or oil paint to illustrate how children can contribute to saving the environment using the 3R approach.
