Mastercard, Preferred Hotel Group Partner to Plant Trees

I often come across partnerships that result in the planting of trees. I just learned about another one. Mastercard has teamed up with Preferred Hotel Group, the parent company of independent hotel brand Preferred Hotels & Resorts and new sustainable hotel brand Beyond Green, to support the growing number of travelers who wish to make more eco-conscious accommodation choices as members of the guest loyalty program I Prefer Hotel Rewards.

For every I Prefer member rate booked and paid for online with a Mastercard, Preferred Hotel Group will fund the planting of one tree up to a maximum of 17,500 trees. This pledge to support global forest conservation through Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition is valid for I Prefer Member Rate reservations made online between January 10 and December 31, 2022, for stays at any participating Preferred Hotels & Resorts or Beyond Green property.

“As the travel community enters a more mindful phase of global movement, it is an honor to be the first hotel company to join the Priceless Planet Coalition, contributing to the creation of more considerate, sustainable programs that meet the evolving needs of today’s traveler,” said Lindsey Ueberroth, CEO of Preferred Hotel Group. “We are committed to finding new ways to achieve greater planetary wellbeing now and into the future, and through this partnership, we look forward to making travel an even greater force for good.”

Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition brings together merchants, bank, cities, and consumers to preserve the environment, with a goal of planting 100 million trees over five years. Together, with its global forest restoration partners World Resources Institute and Conservation International, Mastercard is committed to not only planting trees, but to restoring forests in geographies that deliver the greatest global impact.
