CHICAGO—Master-Bilt, manufacturer of premier commercial refrigeration, will showcase its newest award-winning innovation, the Parallel Glycol Rack Refrigeration System, in the Kitchen Innovations Pavilion (booth 2440) at the 2013 National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show, May 18 to 21 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. Master-Bilt received a National Restaurant Association 2013 Kitchen Innovations Award for the parallel glycol rack refrigeration system which uses the most energy efficient refrigeration system available to chill a glycol loop that cools equipment in a foodservice kitchen or retail environment.

The most unique feature of the Master-Bilt glycol system is its utilization of floating head pressure technology lowering energy consumption of the refrigeration system by as much as 25 percent over a standard mechanically-controlled glycol system. The system uses full state-of-the-art digital controls to provide greater precision, diagnostics, data logging and monitoring capability.

The glycol system reduces refrigerant charge and keeps refrigerant completely contained within the parallel rack system. Only the chilled glycol is distributed to the kitchen. The result is less refrigerant and piping, leading to less chance of refrigerant leaks which cause greenhouse gasses to escape into the atmosphere.

“This year’s Kitchen Innovations Awards recipients address today’s leading commercial kitchen equipment challenges with advancements in energy efficiency and sustainability, online tools for tracking and monitoring, intelligent controls, as well as versatility to conform to diverse restaurant layouts,” said Jeffery W. Davis, convention chair for NRA Show 2013 and CEO of the United States Beef Corp. “These innovations will have a substantial impact on the efficiency and success of restaurant kitchens, as well as the profitability of the restaurant itself.”
