Happy New Year! I hope that you had a great holiday. I spent two weeks in Barcelona as a tourist and visiting family. I had a great time and it is easy to understand why so many people visit the historic city so close to France and the Mediterranean. It was great to see so many recycling containers on the streets of the city. I am excited to be back and ready to continue my work covering the most innovative and newsworthy green products, services and trends.
Last year was a year of growth with my website topping 40,000 different visitors a month for the first time in the history of Green Lodging News. My goal for 2019: 50,000. The circulation of the weekly Green Lodging News e-newsletter and Green Supplier Spotlight almost doubled to 14,150 last year. My goal for 2019: 20,000. To reach my goals I will need your help. Continue to tell your friends to visit the Green Lodging News website and encourage them to subscribe to the e-newsletter and Spotlight e-blast.

New E-Publication Coming Soon
This year I will continue to seek out ways to grow the Green Lodging News brand and increase the number of ways to connect hoteliers and innkeepers with our industry’s leading providers of green products and services. Expect a new Green Lodging News e-publication in the first quarter of 2019.
While our industry has many events throughout the year, few focus entirely on sustainability. If you are aware of an industry event that has a focus on sustainability or even just a session or two touching on the topic, send the information my way. I will at least include the basics in the Green Lodging News events calendar and will attempt to attend the event if possible.

How to Search on Our Website
Like other search engines you find online, a search using one word will produce articles with that word included. If you would like to search for something that is more than one word long—ozone laundry, for example—you will need to put quotation marks around the words or phrase. Ozone laundry would then be “ozone laundry” in the search.

Every two weeks Green Lodging News posts a new guest column on its website. (Click here for examples.) The guest column also appears in the weekly e-newsletter.
