ROANOKE, VA.—Give Kids The World Village is a 70-acre, nonprofit resort in central Florida that provides accommodations at its whimsical Village. It donates attractions tickets, meals and more for a week-long, cost-free Wish vacation to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Give Kids The World has partnered with Lodging Technology on the installation of the GEM System Energy Management Sensors in each of the villas. The sensors will provide a significant reduction in energy use and cost to Give Kids The World.

“We are excited to work with Lodging Technology,” says Michael Bausman, facilities director, Give Kids The World. “Everyone at Give Kids The World is committed to utilizing our resources in a responsible manner, as well as always seeking cost savings. Lodging Technology has provided us with an energy-efficient, green alternative to our current system, and we are excited to install this technology in our villas.”

“We could not be more pleased than to help such a worthwhile organization become more ‘green’ while reducing its costs,” says William Fizer, Lodging Technology’s founder and president.

A Giant Playground for Children

The Give Kids The World Village is unlike any other in the world. Families dine in the brightly colored Gingerbread House Restaurant and enjoy all the ice cream they can eat in the Ice Cream Palace. Playtime memories are made in the Amberville Train Station, adorned with large giraffes, monkeys and the world’s tallest Tinker Toy structure. A fun-filled game of mini-golf can be experienced at Marc’s Dino Putt and everyone can cool off at Claytonburg’s Park of Dreams, which includes a wheelchair accessible swimming pool.

One of the most important parts of each family’s stay is the Village villa. Families stay in two-bedroom, two-bathroom villas that feature all of the comforts of home—and more. The Village has 110 villas on site and construction on an additional 42 is currently underway.

With the help of many generous individuals, corporations, such as Lodging Technology, and partnering wish-granting organizations, Give Kids The World has welcomed more than 85,000 families from all 50 states and 60 countries. To learn more about the Village, visit www.gktw.org.
