YARDLEY, PA.—Lodging Media, the publisher of Lodging Magazine, will host the Lodging Green & Sustainability Conference & Expo to educate hotel owners, senior executives, general managers and facility managers on ways to make their hotel operations more sustainable on October 1 to 3, 2013 at the Omni Dallas. A discounted rate of $395 is available for conference attendees who register before August 30, 2013.

The conference will host more than 60 distinguished panelists and speakers, including hoteliers, business leaders, consultants, investors, and policymakers. The opening keynote speaker for the event is Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who serves as senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, chief prosecuting attorney for the Riverkeeper, Inc. and president of Waterkeeper Alliance. Kennedy is also a clinical professor and supervising attorney at Pace University School of Law’s Environmental Litigation Clinic and is co-host of Ring of Fire on Air America Radio.

The Omni Dallas was built to meet the U.S. Green Building Council LEED Gold Certification standards, placing it on the forefront of environmental awareness and conservation in the city. The hotel’s sustainability highlights include the use of reclaimed timber and brick in the hotel’s restaurant, a 25,000-gallon cistern to reduce storm water run-off and capture water as a means of irrigation in lieu of city water, a rain garden, and solar reflective indexes in the roof. The 1,001-guestroom Omni is owned by the City of Dallas, and is connected to the adjacent convention center.

“We are very pleased that the Lodging Green Conference will be at the Omni Dallas Hotel,” said Omni Dallas general manager Larry Magor. “We recently received LEED Gold New Construction (NC) certification, making the Omni Dallas the largest LEED Gold hotel in the U.S. outside of Las Vegas and one of the only ones in the state of Texas. We are very proud of this distinction.”
