LAS VEGAS—The Las Vegas Marriott has earned LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Gold certification, adding to Marriott International’s growing number of hotels participating in the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED certification program.

The LEED green building certification program is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of green buildings. In addition to earning certification, the number of points earned by a property upon evaluation will determine the rank of Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum. Across the Marriott portfolio, 130 hotels are LEED certified or registered by USGBC.

“We are excited to add another hotel to Marriott International’s growing list of LEED certified properties,” said Denise Naguib, Vice President, Sustainability & Supplier Diversity. “LEED certification demonstrates our commitment to sustainable development and operations, emphasizing the importance of responsible growth.”

New Flexible Meeting Space

Located near the Las Vegas Convention Center, the 278 room Las Vegas Marriott underwent a recent guestroom and meeting space renovation to target large groups who wish to hold their meetings in an eco-friendly venue. The new 600 square foot flexible meeting space can be converted to fit an event’s needs and is outfitted with energy saving fluorescent lighting.

Some of the green attributes that helped the all-suite Las Vegas Marriott achieve Gold status include:

•    Water saving showerheads in all guestrooms;
•    Water conserving 1.6 gallons per flush toilets in all guestrooms;
•    Kitchen cooking oil recycling program; and
•    Purified water stations in foyer areas.

“Offering our guests superior service while being environmentally-conscious is at the core of Marriott’s commitment to sustainability,” said Keith Gamberg, General Manager, Las Vegas Marriott. “We are proud that our recent renovations and changes to hotel functionality have earned us LEED Gold certification from USGBC. The Las Vegas Marriott looks forward to welcoming guests and meeting groups who share our high environmental standards.”
