DALTON, GA.—J+J Flooring announces the launch of Ume, the newest addition to its Kinetex resilient textile flooring collection. Drawing its name and inspiration from sakiori, the traditional Japanese art of weaving scraps of fabric into new textiles, Ume brings a handcrafted, artisanal sensibility to one of the brand’s most technically refined Kinetex constructions to date.

The design celebrates the beauty of imperfection, translating the organic, handwoven quality of sakiori into a small-scale, tightly woven pattern with rich texture.

“It celebrates the texture, rhythm, and elegance of small imperfections,” said Laura Holzer, Commercial Design Director at J+J Flooring. “It’s very soft, not structured and gives that very handmade look.”

Ume launches in 17 colorways, marking an expansive offering that covers every need. The palette leans into softer, earthier neutrals alongside richer accent tones, broadening the design’s potential across market segments.

‘Lighter Bases & More Earthy Colors’

“We took a little different approach with the colors. We have some lighter bases and more earthy colors,” Holzer said. “The broad appeal of Ume lends itself nicely to not only workplace and education spaces, but also healthcare and senior living.”

Beyond its expanded palette, Ume also represents one of the most seamless Kinetex installations the brand has produced.

Explains Holzer, “The pattern makes an almost seamless installation. The tightly woven small-scale creates almost a camouflage for the seams, resulting in something really beautiful.”

Kinetex provides key performance and sustainability attributes. With its lifetime warranty, performance is guaranteed. Kinetex contains no less than 45 percent post-consumer recycled content, with one 24” x 24” tile containing 27 recycled plastic bottles. The sustainability of Kinetex is backed by a Red List Free DECLARE label, NSF/ANSI-140 Platinum qualification, and product transparency is highlighted through an EPD and HPD. Additionally, Kinetex is carbon neutral.
