BUFFALO GROVE, ILL.—Initial Tropical Plants, a leader in providing workplace products and services, has re-branded to Ambius. This North American name change follows the global brand name change from Rentokil Tropical Plants to Ambius which was announced in 12 countries last year. Ambius, a division of Rentokil Initial plc, is the world’s largest provider of plants for commercial environments. Ambius also offers a broad range of products and services including ambient scenting, holiday decor and artwork that can help improve employee productivity, reduce absenteeism and boost morale in the workplace.

“While our ‘roots’ are clearly in beautifying work environments with plants, our new name reflects our expanded vision to enhance the total workplace environment,” said Sally Briese, President of Ambius, North America. “Our new company name, Ambius, reflects our ever expanding capabilities as the premier provider of enhancing the quality of the work experience by engaging all five senses.”

“The name Ambius is a name created from the word ambience,” says Michelle Rodwell, International Brand & Marketing Director, Ambius. “Ambius enhances workplace and other commercial environments through the creation of stimulating surroundings through touching the clients’ five senses. Our new name came from thinking about people and plants, and our role in creating the very best environment that people can work and relax in. The five leaf shapes of the Ambius leaf icon represent the five senses: sight, sound, smell, touch and taste. An Ambius-inspired environment can stimulate co-workers’ senses that will inspire ideas, productivity and lift moods.”

The company, which services more than 22,000 clients including the White House’s Eisenhower Executive Office Building, Nordstrom, Allstate, Glaxo Smith Kline, Jones Lang LaSalle, the San Diego Zoo, Royal Bank of Canada, the Hilton Family of Hotels and John Hopkins University, employs more than 1,300 personnel in 42 service locations in North America with North American revenues of more than $125 million in 2007.

The primary market segments served by Ambius include offices (including general office, property management, corporate headquarters); professional services (including law, financial services, medical); hospitality sector (including hotels, restaurants, casinos); healthcare (including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted care, outpatient offices); retail (including retail malls and stores); education (colleges and universities) and specialty.
