ATLANTA—The Green Spa Network (GSN) is now accepting recommendations for its annual Sustainability Awards program. The awards recognize innovations and outstanding accomplishments in the spa industry that contribute to a vital planet and vital people. An independent judging panel, made up of experts in the sustainability, spa and wellness industries, evaluates and awards brands that are leading the way in social and environmental responsibility. GSN aims to discover, recognize and celebrate significant accomplishments in sustainability within the spa industry.

GSN is currently seeking recommendations for leaders in the following categories:

Sustainable Building Award—Recognizes properties and brands that utilize sustainable building practices that are healthy for people and planet, save or preserve natural resources, utilize sustainable materials, and/or implement innovative and groundbreaking techniques.

Innovative Sustainability Initiative—Recognizes a spa or spa supplier that has implemented an innovative program that supports sustainability, social responsibility, vital people, and/or a vital planet.

Leadership in Sustainability Award—To be awarded to two categories: Day Spa and Resort/Wellness Center. Recognizes a day spa and resort/destination/wellness center that exemplifies a core commitment to sustainability at all levels of their concept and operation, including programming or services, employee well-being, community impact, or operational sustainability.

Sustainable Spa Brand Award—To be awarded in three categories: Beauty, Equipment, and Retail. The Beauty category recognizes a personal care brand that is highly sustainable in their purpose, materials and ingredient sourcing, packaging, community impact, or operational practices. The Retail category recognizes a spa retail supplier that is highly sustainable in their purpose, materials sourcing, packaging, community impact, or operational practices. The Equipment category recognizes a spa equipment supplier or distributor that is highly sustainable in their purpose, materials sourcing, packaging, community impact, or operational practices.

The judges for this year’s Sustainability Awards include: Rona Berg (Editor-in-Chief, Organic Spa Magazine), Julie Keller Callaghan (Editor-in-Chief and Publisher, American Spa Magazine), Debra Duneier (Founder, EcoChi), Glenn Hasek (Editor and Publisher, Green Lodging News), and Ulli Peck (Founder and Owner, The Wellness Agency).
