RALEIGH, N.C.—glass2, along with its distribution partner CaraGreen, has released its latest colorway, Antarctica, which contains recycled pieces of black and white glass, fused together in a slab for countertops and other surfaces. Antarctica joins Ash White, Aquamarine, Azurite, Chorus, Coral Blue, and Ocean Blue in the glass2 lineup of recycled glass color options.

With the emergence of restrictions and bans on engineered stone, new materials will need to take the place of crystalline silica as it continues to be phased out of product lines. With glass being one of the most widely recycled materials, along with the increasing maturity and technology at recycling facilities, new finishes like glass2 surfaces will continue to emerge. Glass, unlike quartz, is composed of amorphous silica, not crystalline silica, and therefore is not considered as dangerous due to its noncrystalline geometric structure. glass2 is offered in 2cm and 3cm options and has the organic look of natural glass in that each piece is distinguishable to form the unique aesthetic of the product.

According to Jessica McNaughton, President of CaraGreen, “glass2 offers a unique aesthetic unmatched by most traditional surfaces today like granite and quartz. It is more akin to a natural stone like quartzite or a semi-precious stone in its uniquity, but it is formed from recycled pieces of glass instead.”
