PITTSFORD, N.Y.—G3 Technology Innovations, LLC (G3i) announced the launch of a new website for GreenShield, the next generation of textile finish. The website offers information about the GreenShield product family, the technology behind GreenShield, answers to frequently asked questions, and contact information for enquiries. GreenShield is the only fabric finish that responsibly manages environmentally harmful chemicals.

Unlike other textile finishes, GreenShield uses at least eight times less fluorocarbon to deliver similar or better water and stain repellency performance on most fabrics. It is the greenest and safest multifunctional finish for textiles on the market today, reducing or eliminating the use of harmful chemistries that are toxic to human health and persistent in the environment.

The GreenShield finish uses green nanotechnology principles that significantly increase the effectiveness of chemical processes. Architects, designers and decision makers in the commercial building industry now have a resource to learn about green chemistry and its impact on the nanotechnology revolution.

Removing Risk Before Consumption

“Green chemistry calls for designing chemicals that take risks out of products before problems arise,” said Dr. Joseph Bringley, Chief Technology Officer for G3 Technology Innovations. “It’s important to remember that nanotechnology is still emerging as a field.”

The new GreenShield finish website has also aligned with the Biomimicry Institute, which is currently working with G3i on a case study for understanding nature’s self-cleaning capability. Through the use of nanoparticles on the surface of a fabric, GreenShield creates a pocket of air over which moisture droplets roll around, creating a self-cleaning effect—similar to what nature does.

With superior water and stain resistance, GreenShield can also be anti-odor (microbe and bacteria resistant) without leaching harmful chemistries, anti-static and have flame retardant properties.
