SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ.—This winter, the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is inviting guests to travel green, escape to the Sonoran Desert’s warm weather and learn about local conservation efforts during private, half-day guided hikes as part of its new Sonoran Eco-Education Package. During their trek with an expert guide from 360 Adventures, guests will learn first-hand about the flora and fauna of the region and will be treated to an “insider’s” view of the desert to learn not only about its ecology, but also about conservation and how to enjoy nature while “leaving no trace.”

In addition to the hike, this package features a one-night stay with breakfast in a luxurious Fairmont “recycling” room complete with recycling bins and the option to launder linens, a reusable travel mug to help them avoid disposable items while on the road, and breakfast at any of the resort’s available outlets.

The new Sonoran Eco-Education Package is one of many green initiatives at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. Nearly a century before “environmentalism” became a catch phrase, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts was founded on an enduring connection to the land and communities in which it does business. Additional recent green initiatives at the resort have included: the adoption of a desert tortoise, a threatened species in the Sonoran Desert; the implementation of the resort’s Sonoran Trail, a tour of the resort showcasing its plants and animals; and a stepped-up recycling campaign that generates more than 18 tons of recycled paper, glass, plastics and aluminum each month.
