INDIANAPOLIS—Delta Faucet Co. announces its involvement in the biggest commercial construction project in the western hemisphere—the MGM Project CityCenter in Las Vegas. Chosen by MGM Mirage and Gensler, a leading architecture, interior design, planning, and strategic consulting firm, Delta will provide bath and shower fixtures for the 68-acre urban development. The project will change the face of the Las Vegas strip with a mini city, redefining urban living. Product from both the Delta and Brizo brands of Delta Faucet Co. will be included.

“CityCenter is not only design-centric, but it incorporates new products that many people have not seen before,” says Ed Fieger, project manager, MGM Project CityCenter. “The Delta and Brizo brands were chosen because we felt they would strongly align with MGM Mirage’s vision of an urban landscape that features dramatically designed and refined interior and exterior spaces.”

The MGM Project City Center is made up of five towers, some which are split between hotel and private residences. The towers are the Pelli, Mandarin Oriental, The Harmon, Veer Towers and Vdara Condo Hotel. Pelli, a 60-story casino/resort, boasts 4,000 rooms and is the project’s center, designed by world renowned architect Cesar Pelli. The other four towers will surround Pelli, creating a “city” right on the strip.

Both Pelli and The Mandarin Oriental Hotel will feature product custom designed for these towers (both faucets and accessories) by Delta. The Harmon and Vdara will have the Grail kitchen and lavatory faucet as well as the Grail tub/shower system from Delta’s Urban Collection. The Brizo brand’s Quiessence lavatory faucet will also be featured in the powder rooms in The Harmon and Vdara. The custom product that will be created especially for Pelli and The Mandarin Oriental Hotel will be introduced into the Delta Urban Collection in 2008.

Collection Fits CityCenter’s Design Aims

“The Delta Urban Collection is based on a feeling, an attitude and a state of mind found in sleek city living and unique high-rise developments,” says John Cairo, vice president, Architectural and International Group, Delta Faucet Co. “The design elements of this collection as well as the Brizo Quiessence lavatory faucet add a chiseled yet contemporary feel to the interior spaces of CityCenter. It’s a great validation of our designs to be chosen by MGM and Gensler for this project that is quite literally breaking new ground in design and architecture.”

With a worldwide water crisis at hand, it made sense to keep water conservation principles in mind when developing this project since it will be constructed in Las Vegas, a city known for water scarcity. Therefore, Delta Faucet Co. took into consideration the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program (LEED) when working with MGM Mirage for faucet selection.

“The highly efficient faucets and shower systems we are installing will offer approximately a 30 percent savings of water, the highest water savings tier within the certification program, helping the MGM CityCenter attain a gold LEED certification,” says Bob Peters, manager, Architectural and International Group, Delta Faucet Co.
