CROSSVILLE, TENN.—Urban Renewal by Crossville combines the beauty of real metal accent and trim pieces with a dimensional composite body, which means that although it has the look of heavy metal, the tile is actually lightweight and easy to install.  And, in keeping with its name, Urban Renewal has a 50 percent post-consumer recycled content, which has been certified by Scientific Certification Systems.

Designed by color forecaster Barbara Schirmeister, ASID, DC, CAUS, for both commercial and residential installations, Urban Renewal is suitable for interior and exterior vertical applications, such as backsplashes, bathroom and shower walls, fireplace surrounds and feature walls. Says Schirmeister, “Urban Renewal can be used to achieve lustrous, all-metal installations or—when used as trim, edging and accents—can play up the handcrafted or luxurious look of Crossville’s many glass, porcelain and natural stone products.”

Its four finishes include Bronze Antique Satin, an antiqued bronze; Blacksmith Iron, a blackened iron grey; Aged Iron, actually rusted using a proprietary technique; and Bronze Verde Satin, a bronze with a delicate verdigris patina. Each finish is available as 6″ x 6″ and 4″ x 4″ field tiles with a crackle design, as well as five Decos and 10 Listellos. All pieces are given a protective, clear coating to ensure a durable, virtually maintenance-free finish.

Urban Renewal joins Crossville’s lineup of certified recycled products that contribute possible points towards LEED certification of commercial building projects and it is also the first product offered by Crossville that meets the post-consumer recycled content requirements of the LEED for Homes program.
