CHICAGO—Coalesse, a new premium live/work furnishings brand, has received the prestigious Designs for Dignity 2010 Sustainability Award. Coalesse is committed to environmentally-responsible design practices and materials and has several products that have earned SCS (Scientific Certification Systems) certification for indoor air quality protection.

Coalesse requires all wood veneers sourced from outside of North America and approved European partners to be FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified to ensure fair, safe and responsible methods are used to harvest and process the wood. Coalesse has eight accredited LEED professionals on its team as part of its ongoing effort to remain a leader in sustainability. In addition, Coalesse’s Chicago showroom, located in the Merchandise Mart and designed in conjunction with Jennifer Luce from Luce et Studio, has achieved LEED Certification for Commercial Interiors.

The Sustainability Award is presented annually to an individual or organization who demonstrates the ability to develop policies or protocols to implement practices which help reduce their environmental footprint and advance Designs for Dignity’s sustainability initiatives.

“We are thrilled to be honoring such an innovative company/showroom and certainly appreciate all that your team has done for Designs for Dignity over the past couple of years,” says Designs for Dignity’s director, Jennifer Sobecki. The award will be presented at the 2010 Spirit Awards Fundraiser on May 12, 2010, at the Preston Bradley Hall in Chicago.
