CLEVELAND, OHIO—The American Ladder Institute (ALI) is gearing up to celebrate 10 Years of Safer Climbing with the coming 10th anniversary of National Ladder Safety Month in 2026. The only program in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to promoting safe ladder use both in the workplace and at home, first observed in 2016, has since helped millions of organizations and individuals reduce ladder-related risk, injuries, and fatalities through education, training, and advocacy.

“This milestone marks a decade of progress in changing the culture around ladder safety,” said Mike Van Bree, President of ALI and Director of Product Safety and Engineering with Louisville Ladder. “Thanks to the ongoing support of our partners and the dedication of safety advocates across the country, we’re providing more people with training on safe ladder usage, both at work and at home.”

Every March, National Ladder Safety Month unites safety professionals, manufacturers, workers, and homeowners in a shared mission: to raise awareness of ladder safety and prevent avoidable accidents. This 10th anniversary observance promises to be bigger and better than ever with new training, new partnerships, and new ways of getting the word out.

Five Key Themes

National Ladder Safety Month 2026 will focus on five key themes: Choosing the Right Ladder (week one); Check Before You Climb (week two); Set It Up Safely (week three); Climb Safely, Work Safely (week four); and Safe Steps with Stepstools (week five).

At the heart of every campaign is ALI’s own ladder safety training, available all year long at laddersafetytraining.org. Free and open to everyone, this online repository includes videos on a range of safety topics for all types of ladders.
