NORTHRIDGE, CALIF.—Reid Witlin Ltd., a textile company focused on the hospitality market, announced that it has committed to raise funds through running for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.
“In an industry that has been hit extremely hard during this recession, we are eternally grateful to all the designers and purchasers who are continuing to lean on us for their fabric needs,” said Scott Yasgoor, president of Reid Witlin Ltd. “We feel that 2012 is our year to focus on giving back to help the people who are continuing to struggle.”
Beginning in Atlanta on February 11, Reid Witlin will begin the Running With Love campaign with the first of eleven 5K runs in 2012. Kortney Edge, vice president of sales & marketing for Reid Witlin Ltd., will join members of Reid Witlin’s sales force, designers and purchasers throughout the country to fundraise for Big Brothers Big Sisters by getting sponsors for every mile run. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.
According to research conducted by Public/Private Ventures, children who participate in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for at least a year are 46 percent less likely to begin using illegal drugs and 52 percent less likely to skip school. Big Brothers Big Sisters targets children, ages six through 18, living in single-family homes, growing up in poverty and coping with parental incarceration and matches them with role models in one-to-one relationships.
