VISTA, CALIF.—Sustainable Industries named Solatube International’s Solatube 750 DS Daylighting System as one of its 2010 Top 10 Green Building Products award winners. This is the second consecutive year the Solatube 750 DS has been selected as a “Top 10” product by Sustainable Industries, making it the first product to earn the distinction more than once.

The Solatube 750 DS, designed for use in all retrofit and new construction commercial applications, was selected by Sustainable Industries from more than 100 entries based on its environmental performance, scalability/market impact, innovativeness, design aesthetic, value and compatibility with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system.

“The Solatube 750 DS Daylighting System is an excellent example of the kind of product chosen for the Top 10 Green Building Product awards by Sustainable Industries’ expert judges,” says Brian Back, founding editor and publisher of Sustainable Industries. “It is affordable and simple to install, solves an important problem for designers and building owners and does so without increasing building energy use one iota. It makes sense that it is the first product to be selected for consecutive years in the history of our five-year-old competition.”

The Solatube 750 DS extends the hours of daylighting available for all commercial interior spaces. Unique features such as Raybender 3000 technology in the dome and Spectralight Infinity Tubing work in concert to deliver the most energy-efficient tubular daylighting device available. In fact, because of its superior performance, the Solatube 750 DS meets the performance criteria for the Energy Star program.

Sustainable Industries’ Top 10 Green Building Products guide is an annual publication profiling industry-leading green building products as selected by a panel of expert judges and Sustainable Industries’ editorial team. The 2010 Top 10 Green Building Products winners will be highlighted in the July issue of Sustainable Industries, as well as in a digital supplement available for free at www.sustainableindustries.com.
