GUAM—Dusit Thani Guam Resort is the first luxury hotel in Guam to achieve EarthCheck Bronze Certification. Bronze Certification recognizes the commitment of the hotel to benchmark its environmental and social sustainability under the EarthCheck program. EarthCheck is widely regarded as a scientifically rigorous environmental benchmarking and certification program and provides a framework which includes requirements specific to management systems, such as quality, environment, occupational health and safety, risk management, heritage and corporate social responsibility.

Stewart Moore, CEO and Founder of EarthCheck, said that Dusit Thani Guam Resort recognizes the benefits of being a sustainability leader within Guam. “Dusit Thani Guam Resort is the first luxury hotel in Guam to achieve this highly sought after recognition,” Moore said. “In doing so, it is measuring its performance against best practices and making positive changes to reduce its environmental footprint and improve its social impact.”

A wide number of Dusit Thani’s portfolio is currently recognized by EarthCheck. This include properties in Thailand, Philippines, Maldives, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

Committed to Well-Being of Local Community

“It is with great pleasure we accept our EarthCheck Bronze Certification,” said Mr. Huntsman, General Manager of Dusit Thani Guam Resort. “This is a direct result of the commitment of our staff, visitors and key stakeholders to reduce, reuse and recycle. We are committed to contributing to the well-being of the local community and embrace Dusit International’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative that guides our behavior as an organization and we encourage our guests, stakeholders and employees to embrace these values.”

Dusit Thani Guam Resort aims to strike a balance between continuous business development, environmental protection, and fostering employee relationships and community welfare and strives to achieve international best practices.

Moore added, “Dusit Thani Guam Resort understands that to achieve this recognition, all levels of the organization had to come together. Green team members and the engineering team and general management have all worked together to recognize the connection between the hotel’s environmental impact and collective responsibility to contribute to the sustainable development of the Guam community.”
