WEST PALM BEACH, FL.—Cadence Keen Innovations Inc. (dba CKI Solutions), a supplier of unique bedding solutions, introduces a lightweight version of its Bed MadeEZ Bed Maker. The Bed MadeEZ Bed Maker, designed for hotel housekeepers, is a simple wedge tool. When inserted under a mattress, it lifts and holds the mattress in a raised position eliminating bodily strain when making a bed. CKI Solutions’ newest version adds the benefit of being 36 percent lighter than the first generation.

Based on the overwhelming market feedback the transition to the new lighter design will become effective immediately. This new version of the patented Bed MadeEZ is equal in strength to the original design and its unique capabilities remain the same. It lifts and holds even the heaviest mattresses, it makes removing bed linens a breeze, it quickly tucks in the sheets, and it makes placing and removing bed skirts easy.

Cal-OSHA recently adopted new workplace safety regulations to protect hotel housekeepers from injury. The new regulation requires employers in the hotel and lodging industry to establish an effective Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention Program by July 1.

Bed making injuries are often the No. 2 highest category of hotel injuries. The tool eliminates the need for housekeepers to lift a mattress, which prevents musculoskeletal injuries and contusions or scrapes to the hands that occur when sliding hands under a mattress to lift or tuck. An independent study by the UC Berkley ergonomics lab found using the tool by unpracticed housekeepers only slowed bed making by 18 seconds. With daily use there would be no loss of time. It is a recommended tool by OSHA for housekeepers to use, and its use has already reduced the number of Workers’ Comp claims related to bed making injuries.
