OAK BROOK, ILL.—Oak Brook Hills Resort announces the appointment of Stefan Mühle as General Manager. Bringing over 25 years of hospitality experience to the property, 12 of those with Portfolio Hotels & Resorts, Mühle oversees all operations at the renowned IACC Certified convention resort soon to become a member of the Hilton brand this summer. The resort features 386 guestrooms including 38 suites, 42,500 square feet of meetings space, and the award-winning Willow Crest Golf Club, a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, preserving and enhancing wildlife habitat and protecting resources.

Listing more than a decade of leadership experience throughout several high-end boutique hotels and the world-famous Drake Hotel in Chicago, Mühle places an emphasis on establishing green, on-trend facilities, socially responsible operations, and high guest and employee retention. Additionally, Mühle aims to highlight his hospitality philosophy in forging mutually beneficial alliances with local vendors, city officials, and community development groups, and more in benefiting Oak Brook Hills Resort.
Management Roles Began at Drake Hotel
After graduating from Washington State University, where he earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Hotel & Restaurant Management and Business Administration, Mühle moved quickly in impacting the hospitality industry. Starting on a management track at Drake Hotel in Chicago and leaving as the Director of Catering Sales, he gained quality experience to lead other properties to award-winning status including the Orchard and Orchard Garden Hotel in San Francisco, the Harvest Inn in the Napa Valley from 2001 to 2011, and Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa in Sausalito, Calif. in 2011.
During his tenure with Portfolio Hotels & Resorts’ properties, he became Food & Beverage Director at The Bishop’s Lodge Ranch Resort & Spa in 2000. Tapped for the General Manager position of the Orchard Hotel in San Francisco in 2001, Mühle established the city’s first Green Seal and LEED certified hotel which became one of the highest-rated properties in town, consistently ranking among the top five percent of its 240 peers on TripAdvisor. As opening general manager of the sister Orchard Garden Hotel in 2006, he replicated that management success before becoming Regional Director of Portfolio Hotels & Resorts’ three Bay Area properties, including the 4-Diamond rated Harvest Inn in the Napa Valley, in 2008.
As a leader in green initiatives, Mühle co-founded and chaired the Sustainability Committee for the Hotel Council of San Francisco and works closely with many other associations.
