SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIF.—Native Trails, a company offering sustainable, artisan-crafted furnishings for kitchen and bath, is providing more finish options in select 100 percent recycled, handmade copper pieces, giving end-users more selections than ever before. Continuing to expand its product offerings, Native Trails is making its Antique finish available for the first time in the complete Maestro Collection of lavatory basins.

Since its establishment some 15 years ago, Native Trails has earned a reputation for bringing eclectic sophistication to high-end kitchen and bath furnishings with evocative, authentic, artisan-crafted designs that incorporate recycled, reclaimed or green-certified materials.

Artisans in Central Mexico handcraft each Native Trails basin by using techniques and tools handed down through generations. Starting with sheets of heavy gauge copper made from salvaged electrical wire and copper tubing, the metal is handworked into a unique and lasting functional work of art.

Three Finishes Available

“Our recycled copper basins and accessories showcase our unique ability to transform post-consumer waste into one-of-kind pieces with the help of skilled artisans,” said Naomi Neilson Howard, founder and CEO of Native Trails. “With the Maestro Collection available in three distinctive finishes, we are expanding the depth of our offerings once again, giving designers and consumers a substantial range of choice.”

One of nature’s most anti-bacterial metals, copper is optimal for the bathroom. Not only does it resist bacteria, it is durable, performs well and its beauty is only enhanced over time. A living, breathing material, heat-based copper patinas continue to change and darken with use. Native Trails does not apply a lacquer or seal to its copper surfaces, which allows the product to respond and react naturally to its environment.

Easy to maintain, copper can be kept clean with soap and water; harsh abrasives and cleansers are not necessary or recommended. Plus, unlike stainless steel or polished copper, Native Trails’ hand-hammered copper surfaces do not show finger prints. All Native Trails’ sinks are made by skilled artisans and feature 100 percent recycled copper content in their design and composition.
