This week will be a busy one for me with a visit to Orlando to attend The NAFEM Show at the Orange County Convention Center. For those of you not familiar with the event, it is produced by the North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers and will include more than 500 exhibitors displaying items ranging from grease traps to ice makers to ovens.
I will be walking the aisles of the show looking for new ways to save energy and water in the kitchen. Waste management will also be my focus. Be sure to watch the Green Lodging News website and our newsletter next week for coverage of the entire show as well as the event’s WHAT’S HOT! WHAT’s COOL! new product gallery where green products will be highlighted. More than 125 companies will participate in the gallery.
On Wednesday I will attend a four-hour LEED Basics for Foodservice session. I am looking forward to learning more about green building practices in restaurant spaces.
In January 2012 I had an opportunity to visit Clean the World’s headquarters for the first time. I will be visiting Clean the World again this week. Be sure to follow Green Lodging News for updates on this organization that has distributed 12 million soap bars in 67 countries since 2009. The soap for many of those soap bars came from ones that were donated by you. It is my understanding that Clean the World has several announcements coming that could significantly increase the volume of soap donated for redistribution.
Green Lodging News Adds NanoTouch Materials as Directory Partner
Green Lodging News welcomes NanoTouch Materials, LLC as a Green Product & Service Directory partner. NanoTouch antimicrobial mats, packaged in a tamper-evident pouch or a convenient travel tube, use nanotechnology to constantly kill bacteria, viruses and fungi without the use of heavy metals or diluted poisons. The mats can be offered as a guest amenity and be used on the bathroom vanity or desk as a place to rest a toothbrush, glasses, medicines, or other personal items.
NanoTouch antimicrobial facility touch points also use nanotechnology to constantly kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. The peel and stick door push pads and handle wraps are available in a variety of sizes and can be branded with a logo.
NanoTouch TV channel guides, directories, menus and other printed materials also constantly kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. The company’s iPad and Kindle wraps not only provide a microbe-killing skin, they provide protection for these devices at the beach or around the pool.
