MOUNT PROSPECT, ILL.—ESCO Institute announces the release of Green Awareness, a new publication that provides a basic understanding of green concepts, terminologies, systems, and the latest in green mechanical technology. Every day the word “Green” enters our lives. We read about it in the news, we see it on TV and we hear about it on the radio, but what is it and how does it affect us?

When it comes to mechanicals, (HVAC/R, plumbing and electrical) “Green” means maximizing the energy efficiency of existing equipment, specifying the most efficient systems available for the application and the available budget, using renewable and sustainable fuel sources, and conserving water.

Both commercial and residential owners want to be green and reduce energy consumption. In fact, everyone wants to reduce their energy costs. Consumers want contractors and technicians to be aware of the various methods employed in reducing energy consumption and conserving water. They want contractors and technicians who are knowledgeable about energy conserving methods and new technologies.

Focus on Basics of Green Mechanical Systems

HVAC Excellence, Ferris State University and the United Association agreed to work together to address the gap in “Green Mechanical” education. This result of their efforts is the development of the Green Awareness Training Manual. The publication is designed to provide a basic understanding of green concepts, terminologies, systems, and the latest in green mechanical technology.

The manual contains four main sections: Core Knowledge of Energy Management and Analysis; Green Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning-Refrigeration; Electrical Generation and Consumption; and Green Plumbing.

The manual is now available through: ESCO Institute, HVAC Excellence, Ferris State University, the United Association, wholesalers and bookstores throughout North America. For additional information, go to www.escoinst.com.
