SEATTLE—Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle has been awarded Green Globe Certification for the fourth consecutive year by Green Globe, an internationally awarded program to recognize organizations with exceptional sustainability practices. Since the founding of its PanEarth program in 2011, Pan Pacific has been an industry leader in environment sustainability and social responsibility.

“Our commitment to the environment has always been at the forefront of our mission,” said Sam Johnson, General Manager of the Pan Pacific Seattle. “We believe that luxury doesn’t have to be wasteful, and that excellent service and sustainability should go hand-in-hand. Pan Pacific Hotel is honored to earn this esteemed certification for the fourth year in a row, but our work is far from over.”

In 2012, Pan Pacific Hotel was the first boutique hotel in the United States to receive Green Globe Certification and has continued to uphold and improve its practices each year. Since January 2014, Pan Pacific has tracked energy and gas usage via Energy Star Portfolio Manager to monitor the information and reduce future usage.

In 2015, Pan Pacific debuted two environmental packages for guests, “Mindful Meetings” and “Green Getaways,” which appeal to both business and leisure guests who want to demonstrate their pledge to conserving resources and supporting clean, sustainable projects. Mindful Meetings provides Natura filtered water served in glass bottles, with locally sourced foods, compostable straws and recyclable paper napkins. Unpresented banquet food is donated to Food Lifeline, a Seattle-based nonprofit that provides food assistance programs. Both hotel packages offer guests complimentary valet parking for hybrid or electric vehicles.

The Pan Pacific’s sustainable practices go hand-in-hand with its efforts in social responsibility. Over the last six years, the hotel has raised more than $48,000 for various local charitable organizations, collected or donated nearly 32,000 pounds of food and sanitized more than 6,000 pounds of partially consumed soap for Clean The World. Additionally, the hotel’s staff has volunteered more than 1,200 hours of community service, including South Lake Union neighborhood cleanups and graffiti paint-outs, and regularly partners with One Day’s Wages to help raise funds to fight global poverty.
