NIANTIC, CONN.—By adding INNCOM’s Integrated Room Automation Systems (IRAS) to Intelity ICE (Interactive Customer Experience) Touch on iPads, guests can now control room temperature, lighting, drapes and alarm clock directly from their iPad tablet computers—even when they are not in their rooms.

INNCOM is an industry leader in advanced guestroom automation systems for hotels and resorts. IRAS is INNCOM’s customizable multi-purpose platform for in-room guest controls. Intelity is the hospitality software developer of ICE, the award-winning integrated, customizable, branded interface that enables hotel guests to request all services instantly via in-room tablet, TV, laptop or mobile device.

“By placing the INNCOM IRAS on our ICE guest interface, Intelity is giving travelers real-time fingertip control over their hotel experience,” said David Adelson, Intelity founder, president and CEO. “Once a guest has registered with the hotel, downloaded its app and received password authentication, they can begin interacting with the property via ICE from virtually anywhere.”

Adelson explained that through the INNCOM/Intelity partnership, an international guest, for example, who had been traveling all night and arriving at his or her destination early morning, can order room service, pre-set the room temperature, dim the lights, close the drapes, and set the alarm clock directly on an iPad while still in the taxi on the way to the hotel.

Control Over In-Room Environment

“In this way, Intelity is taking self-service to the next level by not only allowing guests to order in-room dining, request housekeeping services, receive information about local restaurants and attractions, check airline flight information, print boarding passes, and learn about special promotions, but they now have complete control over their room environment,” Adelson said. “This provides a valued convenience to the guests by enabling them to use the ICE to control in-room electronics and it provides sustainable operational benefits as well by putting energy controls at a guests’ fingertips—wherever that guest may be.”

A guest’s iPad can also be configured to display room temperature, activate Privacy/Make-Up-Room and include INNCOM’s ecoMODE that empowers guests to push a green button on the in-room e4 Smart Digital Thermostat to conserve energy. When not being used for those functions, it can display a rotating series of images chosen by the property while docked on the charging station.

John Tavares, INNCOM vice president sales and marketing, said INNCOM is striving to deliver mobile solutions that give guests memorable, positive experiences while using technology that they are familiar with and extremely comfortable using.

“Hotel guests—especially those in the luxury segment—have come to depend on INNCOM’s in-room controls that previously were only available to them via our bedside or tabletop control units,” Tavares said. “Today, through Intelity, we are able to offer the same controls to guests right from their iPads, making their personal mobile device the source of property information in the guestroom. Not only is this raising service standards to new levels expected by today’s travelers, but it greatly helps to support branded and independent green programs.”
