IRVINE, CALIF.—Food Recycle Science continues its innovations in food waste recycle technologies with the introduction of the new eCorect system—a high-speed food waste recycling machine, through a distribution partnership with Lancaster, Pa.-based Somat Co., a division of Illinois Tool Works (ITW) Company which was recently named a 2008 Energy Star Partner of the Year.

The eCorect system is an environmentally-friendly waste dehydrating machine that rapidly reduces/decomposes the weight and volume of food waste, meat scraps, small chicken and fish bones and paper/cardboard and compostables by 85 to 93 percent and transforms them into a high-quality, humus rich organic soil amendment in four to 24 hours without the use of enzymes, wood chips, fresh water or any other additives, resulting in zero sewer and landfill contamination.

The eCorect system incorporates an innovative energy-saving technology that recycles the energy and water from the waste and automatically shuts the system down when the cycle is completed. The system requires no ventilation or plumbing and there are no negative environmental byproducts caused by BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) or TSS (Total Suspended Solids).

As part of their Green Hotel Initiative and ECHO (Environmentally Conscious Hospitality Operations) strategy, the Marriott Hotel located in Torrance, Calif., uses the eCorect machine daily to effectively reduce 220 pounds of food waste and scraps to 10 pounds within 18 hours, costing them only $50in monthly energy costs, according to chef Anthony Bencomo.

“The eCorect fits the ECHO strategy and helps us reduce energy costs,” said Bencomo said.

The eCorect effectively controls foul odors during the decomposition process and produces sterilized output.
