ATLANTA—Amtico International introduces its Tropical Woods luxury resilient flooring that provides an aesthetic alternative to endangered woods that have been logged almost to extinction. Four patterns—Brazilian Rosewood, Merbau, Tigerwood and Caramel Bamboo—mimic the rare rainforest species in a flooring that’s low-VOC and low-maintenance but high-performance. The products are certified by GreenGuard and FloorScore and are manufactured in a 14001 and 9001 certified U.S. facility.
Tropical Woods projects the distinctive style of its endangered namesakes. While export of Rosewood from the wild is now banned, Amtico’s Brazilian Rosewood captures its chocolately good looks in deep purples, reds and blacks that complement luxury materials and darker color schemes. Found mostly in the mangroves of Southeast Asia, Merbau’s popularity has brought it to the brink of extinction. Amtico’s Merbau exudes exotic appeal with the warm red tones and unique flecked grain that made the original famous. Tigerwood is now under threat in the wild, but Amtico captures its essence with dramatic contrasting golden patterning that makes a perfect partner for jewel tones, metals and modern furnishings. Bamboo has become a fashionable floor choice despite its softness and lack of durability. Amtico’s Caramel Bamboo offers this linear grain in a high-performance material and a more sophisticated butterscotch palette that evokes Zen-like calm in contemporary spaces.
In addition to its eco benefits, Tropical Woods offers durability. Backed by a 15-year Commercial Wear Warranty, Amtico’s flooring system features five layers, including a slip-resistant top layer, a dense wear layer that protects against dents and stains, a color layer of digitally enhanced, high-definition aesthetic imaging, a strong backing and an optional urethane treatment layer. In addition, Amtico’s wear layer is 40 mil, compared to the industry standard of 20 mil. This provides exceptional resistance to scratches, scuffs, stains and indentations.
