LAS VEGAS—Wynn Las Vegas President Maurice Wooden announced that Wynn Las Vegas will commit up to a $1.5 million charitable investment in The Shade Tree, a Las Vegas-based nonprofit organization that helps homeless and abused women and children in crisis. Conceived as a community-wide initiative, the partnership also includes several local construction and professional trade companies that will work with Wynn’s Design and Development team to provide necessary large-scale upgrades to The Shade Tree’s main intake center and shelter.

“When taking the difficult first step towards rebuilding their lives, thousands of women rely on The Shade Tree to take that step with them,” said Maurice Wooden, President of Wynn Las Vegas. “We hope that this effort will help The Shade Tree continue its mission of paving the road back to safety for those who turn to them in a time of need.”

The investment will alleviate substantial construction and upkeep costs that can instead be funneled into providing women and children with temporary housing, meals, medical care, and other life-changing services that promote stability, dignity, and self-reliance.

“We extend our most sincere appreciation to Wynn Las Vegas for its generosity in underwriting many significant and much-needed upgrades to our facility,” said Stacey Lockhart, Executive Director of The Shade Tree. “Their efforts will continue to uplift our organization and enhance our ability to better help women and children in crisis for years to come. The result of this partnership will be as much restorative to the souls of our clients as to the physical structure itself. Together, we are changing lives forever.”

Wynn’s Design and Development team, with the support of Novus Architecture, MMC Contractors, Ryan Mechanical, TEAM Construction and others, will design and rebuild The Shade Tree’s main facilities including the kitchen, resident bathrooms, and intake room. In addition, Wynn is providing ongoing pro-bono consultation to The Shade Tree in the areas of food safety, security, engineering, and marketing.
