ATLANTA—The Ray C. Anderson Foundation announces the launch of its new website to spread the message championed by Interface, Inc. founder and sustainability icon, Ray Anderson, named by Fortune Magazine as America’s Greenest CEO.

“We really wanted to honor our father’s life by re-focusing on how the Foundation can continue his legacy,” said Mary Anne Lanier, trustee and daughter of Anderson. “This launch is just the beginning for us. We already have plans in place to expand the site as an educational resource and are looking forward to issuing our first grant Request for Proposals in 2013.”

Anderson was globally acclaimed as the industrial pioneer who sought to transform his petroleum-dependent carpet manufacturing company into an industrial leader in the quest for a sustainable enterprise. As a result of Anderson’s vision, Interface was able to significantly decrease emissions and waste, all while increasing profits. Anderson died in August 2011, nine years short of his company’s goal of zero negative impact on the environment by 2020.

“Ray was the most visionary, inspiring and effective green industrialist of the late 20th and early 21st century, if not of all time,” said Amory Lovins, Rocky Mountain Institute.

The Foundation now seeks to use the website as a vehicle to build on what Anderson started by funding research projects that promote new developments in the sustainable manufacturing cycle—namely the production and consumption of products. Visitors to the site will be able to learn about Anderson, the Foundation’s mission, and information regarding the first grant application for funding.
