NEW YORK, N.Y.—Organic Spa Magazine has debuted to serve the growing number of consumers committed to integrating personal wellbeing with an environmentally sustainable lifestyle. Published quarterly in print by Oceans Publishing Company, LTD., Organic Spa Magazine is available year-round through a Web-based interactive digital edition. The Winter 2007 digital edition is accessible at www.organicspamagazine.com.

The magazine’s editorial content leads with a cover story entitled “Green Spa Retreats,” featuring hand-picked vacation destinations in Mexico, Vietnam, Costa Rica and Italy. Another feature, “Paving the Way”, introduces readers to nine highly respected thought leaders who are driving the sustainable spa movement today.

Editorial departments organize content into four areas—“at home,” “at work,” “at play,” “at rest”—and cover a range of topics, including products and processes for personal, home and business use, cuisine, travel, personal improvement, design and lifestyle issues.

“It’s very gratifying to be at the forefront of the movement to integrate personal wellbeing with environmental sustainability,” says Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief Mary Bemis. “It is a critical mission that is very rapidly reaching the mainstream.”

With its dedication to “spirit, sustainability, soul,” Organic Spa Magazine attracted 27 charter advertisers for the premiere issue.

Aveda Among Charter Advertisers

“We topped our initial forecast and we are on a fast track with the second issue,” says Co-Founder and Publisher Bev Maloney-Fischback. “Charter advertisers include Aveda, essensa, Willow Stream The Spas at Fairmont, and full-page advertisements include R&R Resorts, Natracare, Green Festival, Pure Fiji, Kneipp, Astara Biogenic Skin Care, Éminence, Sonya Dakar, Jane Iredale, Kerstin Florian, Innersense Organic Beauty, Verattiva, Moran Architects, Laboratories Luzern, Lavera Naturkorsmetik, and B. Kamins Chemist.

The magazine’s visionaries are Bemis, a noted spa editor and journalist who served as a founding editor of American Spa, and Maloney-Fischback, the former director of advertising for American Spa. Bemis has been featured for more than a decade in print outlets such as Luxury SpaFinder and Spa, in broadcast outlets including CNN, The Early Show and Fox Health Network, and has been an invited speaker at a host of international spa conferences. She launched www.insiderguidetospas.com in 2005. Fischback’s publishing portfolio includes such titles as The New Yorker, Gourmet and Vogue.

Among the first magazines to debut in both print and digital formats, Organic Spa Magazine provides advertisers with an initial guaranteed circulation of 40,800 as well as Web-based access to sizeable targeted audiences at affordable rates.

“The new digital format is easy to navigate, allowing readers to thumb through the pages as they would a printed version,” Maloney-Fischback says. “It is also fully interactive, making it easy to click through directly to advertisers’ websites and other links. It’s available 24/7 to anyone anywhere in the world.”
