DUNEDIN, FLA.— For the third consecutive year, Mintek Mobile Data Solutions, a leading provider of turn-key, mobile data solutions, ranks among the top 500 global software and services providers. The ranking, based on 2006 revenues, appears in the September/October issue of Software Magazine.

“We are excited to be included again on this prestigious list,” says Lind Hutton, president of Dunedin, Fla.-based Mintek. “We have experienced tremendous growth since launching our business in 1987. That growth has been driven by our focus on understanding the business challenges of our customers and developing unique solutions that meet their needs.”

The Software 500 is a ranking of the world’s largest software and services suppliers targeting medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers and business managers involved in software and services purchasing. The list includes both public and private companies. Revenue totals include software licenses, maintenance and support, training and software-related services, and consulting.

Mintek Celebrates Banner Year in 2007

Mintek’s strong revenue showing in 2006 has been followed by another solid year in 2007—a year in which the company is celebrating its 20th year in business. In lodging, Mintek continues to build on the success of its dynamic Lodging Asset Management Suite, a set of planning tools that provide for management oversight and notification. The Suite includes WinTrack PM, Asset Director, Maintenance Portal, Work Order Kiosk and Alerts. Mintek’s lodging solutions have been implemented in more than 300 hotels.

“Tracking, maintaining and managing any lodging asset is easily done through a powerful solution that combines handheld devices, bar coding and Internet capability,” Hutton says. “The result is lower equipment and labor costs, greater energy efficiency, a safer work environment, improved asset capital planning and an enhanced guest experience.”

In June at HITEC, the lodging industry’s annual technology exposition and conference, Mintek introduced WinTrack PM for the Windows Mobile platform. The company also added new hardware—Motorola’s MC series of terminals that feature color screens, powerful processors, and increased RAM—to support the new version of WinTrack PM. The Windows mobile devices include wireless radio options and function using Bluetooth, WAN, WWan systems (Sprint, Nextel, Cingular.)

In September, Mintek was named the top hospitality industry winner in Vertical Systems Reseller’s third annual All-Star Awards competition. The awards recognize the top value-added resellers (VARs), systems integrators and solution providers for their outstanding achievement in serving businesses in VSR’s target vertical markets. Mintek was featured in the September issue of VSR.

Strong, Steady Cable Growth

In the cable industry, Mintek’s focus remains on growing SETS (Subscriber Equipment Tracking System), Sales Force Automation (SFA) and Tap Audit. Each provides universal billing system access and incorporates handhelds and bar coding. SETS streamlines the customer premise equipment (CPE) tracking, reconciliation and data entry processes. SFA adds efficiencies to the cable service sales process—from building route lists to printing customer receipts. Tap Audit is an easy-to-use security system for generating passing lists, capturing unauthorized connections and household voids.

In June at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers’ Cable-Tec Expo, Mintek unveiled enhanced versions of SFA and Tap Audit. As in lodging, the enhancements are in synch with the rollout of Motorola’s MC series of terminals. Because the Windows Mobile devices include a wireless radio option, direct sales representatives (DSRs) and tap auditors can access cable customer information in real time via an encrypted connection. The new technology will give DSRs and tap auditors extra hours each day for sales calls and audits. Also this year, Mintek announced that it had added Bluetooth capability to SETS, and that Time Warner Cable’s Los Angeles Metro Division had selected SETS for 27 of its warehouses.

In the utilities sector, Mintek continues to build upon the success of its WinTrack PM for City Utilities software. Just like its other PM systems, Mintek’s WinTrack PM for City Utilities incorporates handhelds and bar coding to ensure that scheduled PM gets done.

“WinTrack PM for City Utilities is ideal for water and wastewater departments, or any other area where government-owned capital equipment needs to be maintained,” Hutton says. “What separates WinTrack PM from other systems on the market is its affordability. It is an inexpensive, modular package ideal for small to midsize cities. It is easy to learn, can be up and running quickly and requires minimal IT department support.”

The water and wastewater departments in Plant City and Boynton Beach, both in Florida, have implemented WinTrack PM for City Utilities. It enables the maintenance teams there to keep their departments running free of breakdowns.

Company to Continue Research

Hutton says Mintek will continue to invest research dollars in pursuit of advanced, automated solutions for its lodging, cable and utilities customers.

“Our plan is to continue to grow in the industries in which we have a strong presence, and continue to offer our customers cutting edge technology and products,” he says. “We will continue to pursue our vision of providing ‘access to information from anywhere’ by using Internet, wireless, GPS, RFID and other technologies. With the continued support of our customers and hard-working employees, we expect to continue to be leaders in the cable, lodging and utilities sectors while at the same time exploring opportunities in other industries.”
