International Restaurant & Hotel Awards Seeks Green Hotel Entries

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIF.—In the tradition of the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards, the International Restaurant and Hotel Awards (IRHA) is the world’s most prestigious awards ceremony recognizing the best value, moderate, and luxury travel establishments that go above and beyond industry standards. IRHA is currently seeking green hotels to submit entries that show how they are reducing their carbon footprint through smart design, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, on-site power generation, and more.

IRHA just announced its list of sponsors. Highly Qualified Group of Jurors

IHRA is juried by a board of esteemed hospitality industry professionals with extensive experience in each category field. Representatives include food & travel TV and radio hosts from the Food Network, Travel Channel, Fine Living Channel, BBC Food, Travel Channel International, CBS Radio, BBC Radio & UKTV Food. Top representatives from the following organizations are also judging submissions: Cool Hotels, Cool Restaurants, Fodor’s Travel Publications, Zagat Survey, Robb Report, Time Out New York, National Restaurant Assn., Hospitality Design, Luxury Hotels, and H2g Travel Guides.

Judges from the following organizations also represented: U.S. & World Green Building Council, Fashion Hotels, International Association of Culinary Professionals, Spa & Wellness Hotels, International Spa Assn., Green Lodging News, Design Hotels AG, HSMAI, FCSI, ISHC, South African Chefs Assn., Boutique Design, World Board of Chefs, California Certified Organic Farmers, American Spa, Vegnews Magazine, Australian Culinary Federation, Chocolatier, and Parenting Magazine.

Beverly Hills Glitz and Glamour

A glamorous gala will celebrate the top hotels and restaurants at The Beverly Hilton, home of the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, Calif. Hotel and restaurant executives, star chefs, leaders of international organizations, major trade publication and travel guide publishers, editors and authors, top critics, industry elite, travel and restaurant enthusiasts and IRHA recipients from around the world will gather to celebrate this year’s finest restaurants and hotels.

In addition to receiving two tickets to the IRHA gala, top honorees will receive the coveted IRHA statue, a certificate of achievement, and maximum exposure to the hospitality industry and the public through the IRHA website, the 2008 gala, print and online promotional material, and the International Restaurant & Hotel Awards Annual Book. Each year, two established industry stars will select 30 to 40 restaurants and hotels from the pools of first, second and third place hotels and restaurants in all subcategories to be exhibited on the Best Of Show page on www.IRHAwards.com and linked to heavy usage websites in the hospitality industry for maximum exposure.

In addition, the first, second, and third place subcategory award recipients and IRHA Grand Award hotels and restaurants will be published in a high-quality, full color, hardcover annual International Restaurant and Hotel Awards Book distributed throughout the International Hospitality Community. The top thirty selections in each subcategory will also receive a listing in the IRHA book directory.
