EMERYVILLE, CALIF.—Hospitality product distributor Guest Supply, a Guest Worldwide company, is now offering a new soap line, called This Works, which contains palm oil certified under the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) standard by internationally recognized third-party SCS Global Services (SCS). As of June 2019, the company has made this body soap available to all customers and has plans to install it in Marriott Hotels & Resorts.

During its assessment, SCS evaluated This Works ingredients, its supply chain and the manufacturing process before granting RSPO certification. Guest Supply, in partnership with sister company Gilchrist & Soames, the Guest Worldwide personal care manufacturer, is offering this product to hotel customers.

This Works soap is a moisturizing gentle cleanser made with frankincense and patchouli essential oils. Displaying the RSPO Trademark and the SCS Kingfisher sustainable palm oil certification mark, the product will be distributed in Marriott and other hotel chains internationally.

Example of Commitment to Social Responsibility

“RSPO certification aligns with our corporate social responsibility goals, and satisfies consumer demands for transparency,” said Roys Laux, Senior VP and General Manager for Gilchrist & Soames. “Our customers depend on us to provide high quality, sustainable products, and this certification demonstrates our commitment to delivering against those expectations.”

“Through an independent assessment with SCS, we ensured that Guest Supply met the RSPO Supply Chain Standard, verifying that the company is sourcing from certified plantations,” said Matthew Rudolf, Director of Sustainable Palm Oil at SCS Global Services. “With this soap line, Guest Worldwide companies are paving the way for other distributors and manufacturers to be transparent and build more consumer awareness of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil.”

“RSPO congratulates Guest Supply on its certification,” said Dan Strechay, RSPO Interim Director of Outreach and Engagement and U.S. Representative. “Use of the RSPO Trademark helps the palm oil market and promotes awareness by driving demand for sustainably produced palm oil that avoids deforestation, helps reduce carbon emissions, protects workers, and supports local communities.”

SCS Global Services conducted the assessment at Guest Supply’s New Jersey location in September 2018 and delivered certification in October 2018. The company is currently in the process of adding global sites to its certification scope and undergoing certification for another soap product.
