The first half of the conference and trade show season is heating up with The NAFEM Show scheduled this month (February 26 to 28). To be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, this year’s show will feature hundreds of exhibitors with just about anything you can imagine for your kitchen—from air curtains to biodigesters to walk-in cooler systems. Twenty thousand food service industry professionals are expected to attend.

As in past years, NAFEM will have a “What’s Hot! What’s Cool!” section of the trade show floor. It will feature the newest, most innovative products from more than 40 companies.

Registration is open for the AAHOA Convention & Trade Show. It will be held April 15 to 17 in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. More than 6,000 are expected to attend this event with 1,000+ exhibitors. There will be more than 30 educational sessions. I will be moderating a session on “Sustainability in the Hotel Industry” on April 17 at 2:30 p.m. CST. Watch for more details on Green Lodging News. Did you know that AAHOA members own more than 60 percent of the hotels in the United States?

AAHOA and the Energy & Environment Alliance recently announced a partnership to help establish unified sustainability standards, benchmarks, and performance metrics specifically tailored to the hotels and lodging sector. (Read article here.)

HD Expo + Conference

The HD Expo + Conference is slated for May 6 to 8 at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. The event will have many first-time exhibitors including ADA Cosmetics International, Bjelin, Naturalist Biophilic Design Studio, the Good Plastic Company, and World Amenities. While the educational sessions have yet to be listed on the show’s website, expect at least several to be focused on green design/sustainability.

The National Restaurant Association Show will be held May 17 to 20 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The annual event will feature an Organic & Natural Pavilion that will include wholesome products, plant-based alternatives, and premium superfoods. The education session schedule has yet to be posted but expect numerous sessions on sustainability in the restaurant world. In the National Restaurant Association’s online Learning Center, there are sections devoted to sustainability and food and nutrition.

NeoCon, the event of the year for the commercial interior design industry, will be held June 9 to 11 at The Mart in Chicago. Four hundred leading and emerging companies will launch thousands of cutting-edge new products. Companies such as the Bradley Company, ECONYL by Aquafil, and Ultrafabrics will be exhibiting. NeoCon programming will include sessions entitled, “IIDA Collective Design LIVE: How to Design a More Inclusive Future,” and “The Geometry of Inclusion: Integrating Fractal-Based Design for Stress Reduction in the Built Environment.”

HITEC, the longest-running hospitality technology event, will be held June 16 to 19 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Currently, there are more than 320 companies exhibiting. Among them: Honeywell Building Automation | Onity, VDA Telkonet, and Verdant Energy Management Systems. The educational program for HITEC 2025 is currently in development.
