BOULDER, COLO.—EnvironmentallyFriendlyHotels.com (EFH) has connected eco-conscious travelers with the best green hotels for many years. This Earth Day, EFH announces the release of a significant site upgrade, making both finding and promoting sustainable hotels even easier.

“Staying in hotels that follow sustainable, earth-friendly practices is a great way for those who support today’s Earth Day events to help improve the environment year round,” said Patrick McClear, president of HealthyStays.com, LLC, which owns and operates EFH. “It not only reduces their footprint when they travel, but it also sends a message to hotels that their green efforts are important to their guests. But to stay in a green hotel, you first have to find it. That’s where we come in.”

The revamped site offers a new user-friendly interface, updated look and feel, and advanced features for travelers and hoteliers alike.

Thousands of Hotels Included

Travelers can select from thousands of green hotels globally and see how each hotel rates on 30 green attributes covering such topics as indoor air quality, water and energy conservation, solid waste, and environmental education. They can write reviews of the best sustainable and green hotels to help other eco-conscious travelers, submit a green hotel for consideration, and use advanced search features to find hotels that are just right for them.

Importantly, each hotel is ranked on a green leaf rating system of one to seven leaves. This makes it easy for travelers to screen for hotels that are at the higher end of the green spectrum. Or a user can search specifically for hotels providing green attributes of interest such as organic food or environmental cleaning.

For hotel operators, the new EFH provides convenient options for upgrading listings, the ability to submit a hotel photo and description to make the listing stand out, and a choice of premium and featured listing options for greater exposure. Hoteliers not currently listed on EFH who represent a green hotel can easily submit their hotel for consideration and then upgrade their listings to generate heightened awareness if approved.
