LOS ANGELES—Bentley Prince Street was recently honored as a Climate Action Champion by the California Climate Action Registry (CCAR). In receiving the 2006 Climate Action Champion Award, Bentley Prince Street was recognized for its leadership in addressing climate change and making significant commitments to reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The award was presented during the organization’s annual conference in April.

“As California’s largest commercial carpet manufacturer, we believe it’s our responsibility to develop new innovations that help preserve our environment,” says Anthony Minite, president of Bentley Prince Street. “At the same time, we’re taking an active role in educating and catalyzing our fellow businesses in the state and in our industry to join in the effort.”

Bentley Prince Street joined the CCAR as the first charter member in 2002 and was named the first Climate Action Leader of 2004. The company was also the first CCAR member to certify its GHG emissions inventory with a third party and publicly report emissions through the Registry. Partnering with the Registry to track and reduce GHG emissions supports the company’s vision to become a sustainable company that will eventually become a restorative enterprise that leads other Californians forward on the path to sustainability.

“By setting a goal of making its entire product line climate neutral, Bentley Prince Street has been a leader in expanding what it means to be a sustainable business,” says Diane Wittenberg, president of the California Registry. “More than that, they have been highly visible as leaders on climate change and friends of the Registry, and we are pleased to honor them with this award.”

Based in Los Angeles County, California, Bentley Prince Street is a manufacturer of commercial carpet for corporate, healthcare, hospitality, institutional, residential and retail interiors. Bentley Prince Street is continually searching for improvements to compete successfully in a more environmentally aware marketplace and to be an industry leader in the movement towards sustainable commerce. Bentley Prince Street is a subsidiary of Interface Inc., a global provider of floor coverings and textiles for commercial interiors.
