Arizona’s The Lodging Conference to Feature Two Green Sessions

PHOENIX—The Lodging Conference 2008, which will be held September 23 to 26 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix, will have a touch of green this year. Two think tank sessions, each with a green theme, are scheduled during the 14th annual event. The first session, Eco-friendly Design Concepts and Product Trends, will be moderated by Julia Monk, partner with Brennan Beer Gorman Monk/Interiors. The second session, Green Hotels Workshop: Initiatives That Save Money and Conserve Resources, will be moderated by Glenn Hasek, publisher and editor of Green Lodging News.

The following is the description of the design session: “From cost efficient programs to extensive renovations, discover the sustainable design elements, products and practices that will make your hotel a cleaner, healthier place for the environment, your employees and guests.” The session’s panelists will include: Ray Burger, president, Pineapple Hospitality; Shaun Hannah, director of sustainability, WATG; Walter Isenberg, president & CEO, Sage Hospitality Resources, LLC; Brian McGuinness, global brand leader, ELEMENT Hotels; and Bob Neal, principal, director, Hospitality Practice for Cooper Carry, Inc.

The following is the description of the Green Hotels session: “As energy costs rise and environmental concerns escalate, there is an ever-increasing awareness to incorporate green methods and products into long-established properties and new hotel builds. Experts will introduce you to the cost effective, energy efficient options that can work at your hotel.” Panelists will include: Greg Hartmann, managing director, HVS International-Boulder, Colo.; Michael Liu, vice president, Gatehouse Capital; Patricia Miller, vice president, corporate director of hospitality, Leo A Daly; William Weinaug, executive vice president, X-nth; and Lance Williams, executive director, U.S. Green Building Council-Los Angeles Chapter.
