ANDOVER, MASS.—In an era of smoke-free spaces, “green” energy, eco-friendly products and environmental health, the Andover Residence Inn recently announced they are offering improved air quality guest accommodations at their hotel. In response to the wellness trends today’s travelers are requesting, the Andover Residence Inn installed the PURE Room system, the most comprehensive allergy-friendly system in the hospitality industry. The hotel now offers guests an environment with cleaner, healthier air.

“At the Andover Residence Inn, we aim to perfect the extended stay experience by combining all the comforts of home with all the perks of a hotel,” says Marisa Cerasuolo, general manager of the Andover Residence Inn. “We’ve taken that philosophy to unprecedented heights with our new improved air quality rooms.”

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), indoor air pollutants may be up to 100 times higher than outdoor air. Indoor air pollutants may also cause many long- and short-tem effects, such as sneezing, watery eyes, coughing, shortness of breath, dizziness, lethargy, fever, and digestive problems.

Comprehensive Cleaning Process

To reduce the effects of poor indoor air quality, all surfaces in the PURE Room are treated to minimize irritants, such as mold spores, yeast, bacteria, pollen, dust, dust mites and chlorine—as well as their odors. The bedding, carpeting, walls, furniture and air-conditioning systems are specially treated to remove contaminants and significantly hinder their return. As a result of being cleaner, the air systems in these rooms also become more efficient, conserving energy and reducing energy costs for the hotel.

This one-of-a-kind cleansing and maintenance process developed by Pure Solutions, North America, eliminates 94 percent of fungus, 98 to 100 percent of bacteria, and up to 100 percent of more dangerous viruses. To maintain ideal conditions in the room, a state-of-the-art air purification system is installed, creating air quality that averages four times cleaner than the threshold for asthma patients.

“With the spotlight on personal wellness these days, we believe we are providing an option to travelers that they are looking for and have been unable to find,” says Haley Payne, director of wellness for Thayer Lodging Group. “Thayer Lodging Group has emerged as an industry leader in offering travelers improved air quality alternatives to sleeping accommodations.”

Thayer Lodging Group, the privately held real estate investment company that owns the Andover Residence Inn, recently committed to offering improved air quality guest accommodations at all of its hotels throughout the United States.
