Virginia Green Travel Conference to Take Place Next Week

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA.—The agenda for the 5th Annual Virginia Green Travel Conference & Travel Star Awards has been finalized. The event will take place March 1 to 2 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center and is being put together by the Virginia Green Travel Alliance. The event will feature two days packed with keynote speaker presentations, educational sessions, Green Tourism Business Expo, Travel Star Awards and much more.

Highlights of the first day will include the Green Tourism Business Expo, Virginia Green Travel Certification Class, opening session, keynote presentation by Anthony Rossi, TerraCycle, Award Winners Forum, four roundtable workshops, tour of the LEED Gold certified Virginia Beach Convention Center, and Virginia Green Travel Alliance 10th Anniversary Celebration.

The second day will kick off with a volunteer beach cleanup. Morning sessions will address The Green Transformation of Tourism in Virginia Beach and Changing Climate & Its Real Impact on Tourism. The mid-morning keynote presentation by Glenn Hasek, Publisher & Editor of Green Lodging News, is entitled, “Trends in Hotel Sustainability: The Convergence of Awareness, Inspiration & Innovation.” The morning will wrap up with two roundtable workshops and be followed by the Fifth Annual Virginia Green Travel Awards Lunch & Celebration Party hosted by the First Lady of Virginia Mrs. Ralph Northam and Rita McClenny, CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
