SAN JOSE, CALIF.—SWITCH Lighting, maker of the LED A-Lamps, announced that the SWITCH100 is now Energy Star certified. The SWITCH100 is SWITCH’s 100 watt-equivalent LED replacement A-Lamp. Customers who purchase the SWITCH100 are now eligible to receive the accompanying price rebates offered by utility companies across the country.

“Home owners and commercial building customers are quickly recognizing the importance of using Energy Star certified appliances in their homes and other commercial properties,” said EC Sykes, CEO of SWITCH. “The Energy Star name represents quality, reliability and efficiency, and we’re honored that the SWITCH100 meets the Energy Star Standard A-Lamp qualifications.”

Established in 1992, Energy Star is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) voluntary program that helps individuals and businesses save money and protect the climate through improved energy efficiency. According to Energy Star, certified bulbs can save more than $40 over their lifetime, and use about 75 percent less energy than a traditional incandescent bulb. Energy Star certified bulbs produce at least 75 percent less heat, so they are safer to operate.

Same Performance Level as 100W Incandescent A-Lamps

The SWITCH100 is among the first 100 watt-equivalent LED A-Lamps available to commercial and consumer customers. With its 4000K color temperature and 1600 lumen output, the SWITCH100 provides the same level of performance as the now obsolete 100W incandescent A-Lamps, at a fraction of the energy consumption at 20 Watts.

SWITCH LED A-Lamps use up to 85 percent less energy as an incandescent and last 25 times as long. Unlike many competitors, SWITCH bulbs can be used in any orientation, any fixture, and any location. They fit into standard light sockets, are dimmable, and can be used in the same manner as any incandescent or compact fluorescent light bulb. SWITCH bulbs pose no environmental hazards and have no toxic ingredients (unlike the mercury found in CFLs).

SWITCH’s family of LED bulbs use the company’s patented LQD Cooling System. The LQD Cooling System is a blend of the company’s overall electronic design and proprietary technologies: a coolant made of liquid silicone, and a patented, highly efficient and reliable electronic driver. SWITCH is up to 40 percent more effective at diffusing heat and cooling LEDs than typical air-cooled LED bulbs.
