MINNEAPOLIS—Swegon Inc. announced its North American launch of the ADAPT Parasol comfort module, a hybrid product uniting the energy-saving and comfort advantages of chilled beams and demand control ventilation. “The ADAPT Parasol is the first of Swegon’s demand controlled ventilation products to be modified to meet North American Industry standards,” said Mike Woolsey, President at Swegon “This follows the successful launch of ADAPT Parasol in Europe last year.”|

ADAPT Parasol is the next generation comfort module style chilled beam. Chilled beams are ventilating and cooling devices with optional heating, mounted in the ceiling of rooms within commercial and institutional buildings. By using chilled water circulating through on board coils, chilled beams cool rooms more efficiently than other types of room cooling devices. Swegon’s PARASOL comfort module is the first chilled beam to offer four-way discharge of conditioned air, which dramatically enhances room comfort levels. Building on the success of the award-winning PARASOL—dimensions, sound levels and capacities are the same—ADAPT Parasol offers several unique features to provide greater energy savings, and greater comfort levels:

• The power to supply a room with all the required ventiation air, cooling and heating;
• The precision to adapt exactly to the current ventilation, cooling and heating requirements of each room;
• The flexibility to change cooling capacity and airflow direction to meet occupant needs; and
• Integral controls to automatically respond to changing room conditions without over- or under-ventilating.

ADAPT Parasol features an integral smart room controller that calculates the demand for cooling, heating and ventilation air, based on occupancy, room temperature and other inputs. The controller is connected to an internal damper which closely regulates the air volume supplied over a wider operating range than was previously possible. This capability allows occupants to receive just the right amount of air over a broad range of typical room conditions—summer or winter, high or low occupancy, high or low CO2 levels and other measured conditions.

“ADAPT Parasol is perfectly suited for use in rooms with variable occupancy such as single-person offices, conference rooms, and classrooms,” says Anders Eriksson, Product Manager at Swegon.
