GARDEN GROVE, CALIF.—Sterling Hospitality has partnered with Michael Koo, founder of NuBrand and former Managing director/chief executive with Simmons Asia, to bring Sterling Hospitality’s modular mattresses to the Pacific Rim.

“We are excited to work with Michael and his team at NuBrand to expand Sterling Hospitality’s presence in South East Asia,” says Sterling Hospitality CEO, Tony Hochschild. “This partnership will allow Asian hotel owners to provide a high quality mattress that will increase guest satisfaction and decrease solid waste by reducing the number of mattresses being sent to landfills.”

Koo will distribute Sterling Hospitality’s environmentally sustainable beds to hotels, clubs and cruise ships in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and the Philippines. Founded by Koo in 2004, NuBrand is a prominent marketing, distribution and partner company in South East Asia for renowned brands of furniture, furnishings and peripheral products. Under Koo’s leadership, NuBrand’s mission is based on a market-driven, customer-facing, employee-friendly philosophy which has proven very successful. Koo is well known as a visionary in the industry and has been elected to many boards including the Singapore Furniture Association, and as an elected Fellow for the Chartered Institute of Marketing United Kingdom as well as the Marketing Institute of Singapore.
