BETHLEHEM, PA.—More than 200 volunteers recently gathered at Sands Bethlehem, a Bethlehem, Pa., casino and entertainment destination owned by Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS), to help assemble 10,000 hygiene kits for social enterprise Clean the World for the third year in a row. The kits, which are designed to address the significant global and domestic need for personal hygiene products to help people who lack access to basic amenities, will benefit 23 charitable organizations in the greater Lehigh Valley.

The volunteer event, which took place at the property, is one of a series of hygiene kit builds at LVS’ properties in Macao, Singapore, Bethlehem and Las Vegas in 2017 as a part of Sands Bethlehem’s global corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares. The program’s goal is to support Clean the World’s mission to promote good health and well-being around the globe through improved access to soap and hygiene education. This year’s event brings the total number of hygiene kits created by Sands Bethlehem for Clean the World to 45,000.

“It is our pleasure to continue our partnership with Clean the World for the third consecutive year to help improve the health and well-being of our local community,” said Brian Carr, President and COO of Sands Bethlehem. “This ongoing partnership has provided our community with valuable resources and has served as a unifying day of service for our team members that we look forward to each year.”

In addition to the kit builds, LVS’ funding also provides critical support for the Clean the World Foundation. For each kit produced, $1 goes to the Clean the World Foundation, with $100,000 in total funding generated from the global kit builds, helping to drive the Foundation’s efforts in ongoing hygiene education and disaster response. Both efforts serve vulnerable populations around the world.

Each hygiene kit includes soap collected from Clean the World’s hospitality partners, including Sands Bethlehem, which is recycled through Clean the World’s soap sterilization and re-manufacturing process. Other amenities in the kit include shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush and toothpaste.
