DANVERS, MASS.—RISO has previewed its new HC5500 Full Color ComColor Printer. This system, which is expected to be available this summer, couples energy efficiency with high print speed and output quality. The HC5500 continues RISO’s commitment to developing environmentally responsible printing technologies that are also engineered for productivity, versatility and cost containment.

As the newest addition to RISO’s HC series of printers, the HC5500 is Energy Star-qualified. The system also offers print speeds up to 120 pages per minute in full color and running costs as low as $.03 per page, enabling users to harness the impact of color in everyday documents. The HC5500 is equipped with a series of new and enhanced features such as the ability to print on envelopes and card stock to handle a wide variety of applications; two print controller options; optional high speed scanning; and enhanced security features.

Like all of RISO’s printing systems, the HC5500 is engineered with the environment in mind. RISO’s Printer-Duplicators—ideal for black and white or spot color applications—use about the same energy as four 100-watt light bulbs when producing copies, and unlike many photocopiers and laser printers, they handle a variety of recycled papers. Like the HC series, RISO’s Laser Printers and MFPs are Energy Star-qualified and typically consume 50 percent less energy than current Energy Star specifications.

In addition, the inks for RISO’s Printer-Duplicators are formulated with soy oil, creating an environmentally friendly product. RISO also makes it easy for its customers to return used Laser Printer and MFP toner cartridges at no charge. Nearly half of the returns are made into factory-reconditioned cartridges, while all others are recycled.
