Wind Powered

windmizzAccording to the American Wind Energy Association, the cost of wind energy has dropped by 43 percent over the past four years (2009 to 2013). Yet, in the lodging industry, wind turbines are still extremely rare and typically are of a small scale. There are various reasons for the slow adoption of wind energy in the lodging industry: two being the still-high cost and a lack of a footprint for placing them. As seen in the list below, most turbines are in place at resorts and smaller properties but that may begin to change as new types of turbines are developed.

If your property has a wind turbine or turbines and is not listed on this page, contact Glenn Hasek, publisher and editor of Green Lodging News, at (813) 510-3868, or editor@greenlodgingnews.com.
